Adrian Colin: el artesano vidriero

Francia es conocida por sus conocimientos ancestrales y por su artesanía. Mi profesión como diseñadora, me permite descubrir artistas apasionados en talleres donde el tiempo no cuenta.

Hoy os presento a un artista que maneja la llama de una forma única, para crear maravillas: Adrian Colin.

«Être son propre destin pour aboutir aux sources de soi».

Esta es la ética que Adrian Colin eligió como guía para su trabajo. Con el fin de hacerlo, sopla y esculpe el material en fusión de una forma que se ajusta a la emoción deseada. Con esta técnica, crea obras extraordinarias de gran sensibilidad y suavidad.

"El arte de la luz y de la transparencia, el arte de la acción congelada en la belleza de un momento frágil, pero precioso".

 Su arte es recompensado por la Orden de Francia del Mejor Trabajador.  Así, entra en el círculo estrecho de los ganadores, como en la 17ª edición, en la categoría de lámpara artística, desde la creación de la competición en 1924.

Las piezas son sopladas para vaciarlas, o silueteadas para crear impresionantes formas. El vidrio es un material muy maleable, pero no permite que se cometan tantos errores durante el proceso de conformación. Por lo tanto, uno tiene que dominar las técnicas, y ser constante. La creatividad debe hablar, primero en el papel, y luego a través de la llama.

Adrian Colin también produce botones para la alta costura y tapones para botellas de perfume, incluyendo esculturas y joyas. Junto con sus colecciones, colabora con otros artistas y también con marcas de lujo francesas como Caron, Dior, Cartier, Chanel, Lancôme y Denis Durand, creando accesorios de lujo para ellos. Todo el proceso está destinado a valorizar y subrayar la calidad del "know-how" francés.

I present an artist who handles the flame to create wonders: Adrian Colin « Être son propre destin pour aboutir aux sources de soi »

This is the ethic that Adrian Colin chose as a guideline for his work. In order to do so, he blows and sculpts the melting material into a shape that fits the emotion intended. With this technique, he creates unique artworks of both sensibility and softness.

« Art of light and transparency, art of the action frozen in the beauty of a fragile yet precious moment. »

His art is rewarded with the France Best Worker warrant. Thus, he enters the narrow circle of the winners, as the 17th in the artistic lampworking category since the creation of the competition in 1924.

The pieces are blowed for the empty ones, or shaped by gesture alone for the massive ones. Glass is a very malleable material, but it doesn't allow one to make so many mistakes during the shaping process.  Therefore, one has to master the techniques, and be steady.  Creativity must speak, first on the paper, and then through the flame.

Adrian Colin produces from haute couture buttons to perfume bottles, including sculptures and jewelry. Along with his collections, he collaborates with different other artists and also with French luxury brand such as Caron, Dior, Cartier, Chanel, Lancôme and Denis Durand by creating luxury accessories for them.
